COACHING
Coaching at Woking Hockey Club is built around The Woking Way: a unified vision, shared values, long-term development, and pride in our community.

Whether you are an experienced coach, a current player, a parent, or completely new to coaching, we provide a clear, supportive pathway to help you get involved and develop with confidence.

Coaching at Woking operates within a clear and supportive framework:
• Volunteers: Junior hockey and Senior teams – from first stick to performance squads
• Assistant Coaches
• Performance Coaches/team leads
• Head of Sections: Women’s Lead Coach, Director of Hockey,
Director of Junior Hockey, etc
All coaches are part of a wider coaching team and are supported through collaboration, mentoring, and shared resources. Every year we run a number of “Coach the Coaches” sessions that are theoretical and practical. All coaches are expected to attend and we want coaches to have a drive to improve themselves and those they work with.
Getting Started
You do not need previous coaching experience to begin. Many coaches start by
assisting sessions or supporting experienced lead coaches while learning on the job.
The club actively supports coach education through mentoring, shadowing, and access to England Hockey qualifications and club-led development opportunities. For more information, see our Pitchero site
