Welcome to the junior section of the club and to the 2009/10 season!

The Colts section looks after the interests of our younger members, ranging from Under 6s to Under 18s, both Boys and Girls. Children who have past their 5th birthday are welcome.

New members can download a member registration form here and send it in or hand it to your age group manager. Existing members are being given forms pre-populated with all the data that we currently hold for them.

The training times for each gender and age group are available to view here.

News from last season

The Colts – all 300 of them - had a particularly successful season. Highlights included:

  • The Girls finished runners-up in the U14 Home Counties League, having won their regional league with a 100% record and then winning two play off rounds.
  • The Girls also won friendly tournaments at U12 and U16 (twice) levels.
  • The Boys were semi finalists in the U14 Mercian Home Counties League, having also won their regional league and a quarter final play off. Also the U14s were champions of the Wessex League Division 1 with a 100% record.
  • The Boys U18s were quarter finalists in the Mercian Home Counties League and runners up in the Wessex Cup.
  • The Mixed U18 team was runner up in the Surrey tournament.

In July 2009, the club passed an assessment by England Hockey for their ClubsFirst award, and has since recieved formal ratification from Sport England (and with it the Sport England Club Mark award). We are only the 3rd club in the South region to have achieved this demanding award, which means that we will be recognised as being a well managed and child friendly club.

The club has various policies and procedures in place to ensure that it operates in a safe manner and protects its younger members at all times. These policies can be viewed by clicking on the links below:

A Note to all Colts and Parents from Craig Fruin, Colts Director of Coaching

Having just taken on this role at the beginning of the season, I am very excited about our coaching plans. My role is to:

  • Create and implement a colts coaching strategy. Develop a structured coaching programme for each age group, providing clear progression throughout the season and from one season to the next.
  • Appoint colts coaches (with the Colts Chairman).
  • Liaise with the colts head coach over coaching session content.
  • Determine and resolve the training needs of volunteers.
  • Ensure the development of technical and match craft skills for all age groups.

The intention is that each age group will receive coaching tailored to their needs and we will thus enjoy even greater success!
